The Arizona State vs. Iowa State game was played on Saturday, March 7, 2026.  The team ended its regular season a day before with an 86-65 setback against the Iowa State Cyclones, which took a different turn after halftime.

Good First Half of Arizona State

One of the most effective offensive spurts of the season was the start of the game played by Arizona State. In the first half, the Sun Devils made 58.3 percent of their field goals and ran 152 yards to develop momentum. They had a 41-37 lead at halftime against the sixth-ranked Cyclones with their good play.

The bottom was reached at the beginning of the second half. Arizona State was leading by a margin of 45-41, and Iowa State reacted with a 24-0 domination run that lasted close to nine minutes. The rush entirely changed the tide and provided the Cyclones with the mastery of the game.

The Arizona State team could not create offense in that period, as they passed over 10 minutes without scoring a field goal. The Sun Devils could not get back when Iowa State had a two-digit lead, as the scoring drought was so severe.

Turnovers Seal the Outcome

Controlling the balls was another expensive factor for Arizona State. The Sun Devils turned over the ball 23 times, the most in a season, and Iowa State took advantage of those misfortunes and converted them into 29 points.

Although it was quite competitive in the first half, the second half domination of the Cyclones was too strong. The end of the regular season is followed by Arizona State's mark entry into postseason play.
