A huge boost came to Arizona State just before its most significant Big 12 game against West Virginia, when the initial injury report of the week came out stating that star defensive line player Prince Dorbah would most likely be back. Dorbah, who sat out the last two games, was the only notable name that was not on the list of injured on Wednesday, which is a good omen for the Sun Devils defense.

Dorbah is another player who has had an influential season in the team; he has notched four sacks just like his teammates. This makes him the team leader in the number of sacks. His return is crucial as Arizona State looks to strengthen its defensive line heading into the final phase of the regular season.

Tyson still out of commission with injuries

Although the expected arrival of Dorbah is positive news, the Sun Devils will continue to lose their wide receiver, Jordyn Tyson. Earlier reports indicated Tyson’s absence, which head coach Kenny Dillingham later confirmed in the team’s official injury report.

The injury situation in Arizona State has been tormenting its roster. Their main players, like quarterback Sam Leavitt, offensive lineman Ben Coleman, and defensive back Xavion Alford, are all out for the year. This has forced the coaching staff to make major changes on a week-to-week basis.

Sun Devils not out of title race in Big 12

Nevertheless, Arizona State has been able to remain competitive despite the setbacks. At the moment, the Sun Devils have a total record of 6-3 and a conference record of 4-2, keeping them in the running for the Big 12 title.

They will, however, require some support of other outcomes as we have Texas Tech, Cincinnati, and BYU all with only one loss in the conference. There is a sense of Arizona State maintaining momentum following the defensive resurgence of Dorbah on the team. Thus, the team is a dark horse in the Big 12 championship picture.
