Arizona State is preparing for the first ever College Basketball Crown postseason tournament, set to start next week, but the transfer portal rages on nevertheless. The Sun Devils have already lost Joson Sanon to St. John's, but on Thursday Bobby Hurley got his first new addition:

Moe Odum is transferring into Tempe from Pepperdine, where he averaged 13.1 points and 7.5 assists per game while shooting just under 38% from three. He is anticipated to be Hurley's replacement for Alston Mason, their point guard from this season who is out of eligiility.

This is not Odum's first time transferring, though. The New Yorker originally committed to play for Pacific University, where he spent two years. Odum graduated from role player to starter in his final season, but the team struggled to find success: they went 21-44 during that time, leading to a coaching change.

That precipitated Odum's transfer, staying within the West Coast Conference to go to Pepperdine, who had just hired a new coach themselves. Odum started every game for the Waves, but it did not result in on-court success. Pepperdine finished with a dismal 13-22 record.

Now, Odum is making the quite jump, moving into the most prestigious conference in college basketball to be a Sun Devil. He hasn't seen much success in his career, but Odum did lead the nation in assist percentage this past year, posting eight different games with 10+ assists.

Arizona State can use that kind of skill. At times this year, they had issues with their offense grinding to a halt, and needed more of a pure distributor to keep things moving. Odum can provide just that, though Hurley will still need to add some scorers to offset the losses of Sanon, BJ Freeman, and others.
