Arizona State's first addition from the transfer portal was a receiver, landing Clemson redshirt freshman Noble Johnson. They've now added another receiver, this time someone with more experience, with Fresno State's Jalen Moss.
An under-the-radar 3-star prospect out of Menlo Park, California, Moss committed to Fresno State back in 2022. Arizona State was one of four Power 4 schools to offer at the time, but that was around the time that the NCAA recruiting scandal broke.
Moss took a redshirt his first year on campus, but broke into the starting lineup the next year. Primarily playing outside in Jeff Tedford's pro style offense, Moss tallied 705 yards and six touchdowns on 55 catches. This year, playing for an interim head coach after Tedford stepped away prior to the season for medical reasons, Moss put up 563 yards and four touchdowns on 48 catches.
In both years, Moss was second on the team in receiving. That made him one of the top Group of 5 players on the market when he entered the portal, and Arizona State expressed interest early on. He visited Kansas first and was set to visit rival Arizona, but the Sun Devils managed to jump the line and get Moss on campus Tuesday, at which point he committed.
Whereas Johnson is more likely to provide depth for the Sun Devils while he develops,, Moss will come to Tempe with high expectations. Arizona State is looking for more weapons to complement Jordyn Tyson, and Moss provides exactly that. He won't be guaranteed a starting spot, but his body of work at Fresno State would suggest that Moss should slot in nicely for this offense.
One thing to note: offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo is a Tedford prodigy, having worked with the former Fresno State coach at both the college and NFL levels. While the offense isn't the exact same, that philosophical similarity surely played a part in Moss opting to pick the Sun Devils over several other teams.
The addition of Moss certainly helps paint a clearer picture of this Arizona State passing attack in 2025, but the Sun Devils are not done yet. Reports have suggested that Dillingham wants to add three receivers in the portal, and Moss makes two.
They recently had USC transfer Duce Robinson in for a visit, and have other visits in the works as well. Be sure to follow our live portal tracker for updates as they roll in.
