The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft saw zero Sun Devils hear their name called, but it wasn't necessarily a shock. Most draft prognosticators only view superstar running back Cam Skattebo as a draftable player from Arizona State, and even then most expected him to come off the board some time on Friday during the second and third rounds.

Well, the final pick of the third round came through, and not one team turned in a card for Skattebo.

Skattebo going undrafted through these first three rounds was certainly a surprise, and it prompted quite a few strong reactions online.

In fairness, the draft saw very few running backs drafted on the second day. While Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton heard their names called Thursday night, only three more runners - TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins out of Ohio State and RJ Harvey out of UCF - were taken in the second round.

The third round was even lighter on running backs: Iowa's Kaleb Johnson was the only running back drafted in the round.

So many draft analysts had talked about how deep this year's running back class was, with Skattebo being one of the top names, but seeing just six of them get drafted through the first two days is certainly a shock.

Conventional logic says there will be a run on the position early Saturday, and Skattebo has a good case to be the first or second player in that run. Still, few people expected the Heisman finalist to wait this long.
