Zero Sun Devils were selected in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft

Night one of the 2025 NFL Draft is complete and as expected, no Arizona State football players were selected in the first round. There are three Sun Devils that could have their names called by the time things wrap up on Saturday.

The first of which is expected to be running back Cam Skattebo, an Associated Press First-Team All-American selection, Big 12 Championship game and Peach Bowl game MVP last season. Most mocks have Skattebo going as early as the second round and as late as the fourth round.

His 2,316 all-purpose yards (second in the nation) and 24 total touchdowns (an ASU record) were an incredibly impressive feat that helped lead the team from a projected 16th place conference finish to a College Football Playoff berth.

Which Sun Devils players are expected to be drafted?

There are two other ASU players that should hear their names called, likely on Saturday in rounds four through seven.

Center Leif Fautanu was an iron man player for the Sun Devils, playing every game the last two seasons for the program and leading the way on the offensive line for Skattebo and quarterback Sam Leavitt. His 89.3 pass-blocking grade was the best in the FBS last season and should have caught the attention of pro scouts enough to warrant late selection.

Defensive back Shamari Simmons is probably a bubble player to have his name called but you never know. The 5-foot-11 star was one of ASU's most valuable players on defense in 2024 and could provide much-needed depth for an NFL team. His 72 tackles (nine for a loss), four forced fumbles and an interception on four passes defended may be borderline good enough for a late seventh-round flier.

Sun Devil fans shouldn't fret if there's no familiar names called early in the process. As much as the team itself was fantastic in 2024, a vast majority of the roster returned for 2025 and those that departed were going to get overlooked anyways (besides Skattebo).
