After dominating the first two games of the series, No. 9 ASU softball overcame a 2-0 deficit to complete the sweep of the Utah Utes.

In what was yet another tight game for the ninth-ranked Sun Devils, ASU came out on top against Utah 4-3 for the road sweep.

ASU ace G Juarez had a disappointing first inning for her standards. With a runner on, Juarez surrendered a two-run homer to senior third baseman Heather Bowen.

It took a few innings, but Arizona State would answer back and then some. In the fourth inning, Jade Gortarez and Morgan Howe we’re on when freshman DeNae Chatman bombed one over the fence for her third home run of the year.

The Utes continued to not make things easy for Juarez. The very next inning, right fielder Ally Rickman launched a solo home run to tie the game.

Heading into the sixth, catcher Maddi Hackbarth roped to single to score Howe, which gave Arizona State the lead for good. Despite giving up more runs than usual, Juarez still added 10 strikeouts to her Pac-12 leading total of 250 for the season. Utah only had three hits in the entire game.

ASU is now 35-9, a record that will likely keep the Sun Devils in the top 10. Their next two games will be in Las Cruces, New Mexico as they take on New Mexico State for a doubleheader Tuesday.
