After having last week off, ASU softball is back in action Thursday as they open a three-game series at Stanford, who’s sitting last in the Pac-12.

ASU softball is ready to get back playing.

After having last week off, the Sun Devils begin a three-game series at Stanford.

Last time out, Arizona State were swept at then-undefeated Oregon with all the games being tight.

In the first game of the series, Arizona State lost 4-0 as the offense was only able to muster 3 hits versus Ducks starter Maggie Balint.

Breanna Macha got the start for ASU in that game and threw a 6-inning complete game allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.

In game two of the series, it was a high-scoring affair as the Ducks won 8-4 outscoring Arizona State 5-1 in the 4th to 6th innings.

More from Devils in Detail

Right fielder Nichole Chilson drove in 2 runs with center fielder Skylar McCarty and designated player Fa Leilua each driving in 1 run.

Freshman pitcher Giselle Juarez had her worst outing of the season allowing 7 earned runs on 10 hits in 5 innings of work.

The final game of the series was the most competitive game of the series with the Sun Devils falling 1-0 in 8 innings as Oregon first baseman Mia Camuso hit a walk-off single off ASU starter Dale Ryndak.

Ryndak did a nice job limiting a potent Ducks offense limiting them to just 5 hits, but it was Ryndak’s 6 walks that gave Oregon scoring opportunities.

Fast forward two weeks and the Sun Devils head to Palo Alto to face the Stanford Cardinal for a three-game series Thursday.

The Cardinal sit at the bottom of the Pac-12 conference with an 0-9 conference record and are coming off getting swept at then-No. 4 Arizona.

Stanford was run-ruled in each game of the series, losing every game in 5 innings and were outscored 41-2 over the three games.

Arizona State should get its offense back going after being held to just 4 runs in 3 games at Oregon two weeks ago.
