After coming off a 7-0 Kajikawa Classic, ASU Softball would only get in two games of the Littlewood Classic.

The last two days of the Littlewood Classic in Tempe got rained out, so ASU softball was only able to play their first two games on Friday. Those two games resulted in two wins vs. Wichita State and Illinois State.

Against Wichita State, ASU threw out their ace Dale Rynkak and she was able to ride behind a 5-run first inning from the devils.

It was not Ryndak’s best start of the year; giving up 11 hits and four runs, bust the early ASU offense gave Ryndak a cushion and her third win of the year.

The offense broke open in the first when Ulufa Leilua came to the plate with the bases loaded and smacked a 2-RBI double to center.

The very next batter, Nichole Chilson came to the plate with runners on first and third and put one over the center field fence, giving the Devils a 5-0 lead after the first. That’s all they would need too, beating the shockers 6-4 in Friday’s early game.

In Friday’s later game, ASU sent out Giselle Juarez to face Illinois State and she did not disappoint, getting the win in a 3-hit shutout. Juarez gave up only one run but was able to notch 11 strikeouts on zero walks.

In the third, the Sun Devils took a 3-0 lead after a bases-loaded, 2-RBI single to right from Emily Ramelot. The next batter, Taylor Becerra got her second RBI of the game on a single to the shortstop, finishing her game going 2-2 with 2-RBI’s.

ASU added to their lead in the fourth, after a 2-run dinger off the red-hot bat of right fielder Ulufa Leilua, who finished the tournament 4-6 with 5-RBI’s.
