Even though the 2016 season may be over, it is never too early to look ahead to all the excitement that the 2017 season will bring for ASU football.

The 2017 season will bring a whole new wave of excitement to the ASU football program. While there will be questions that demand to be answered, positivity will surround the Sun Devils. With all those positive emotions, some people will fail to take a step back and look at the program through a more objective lens. Here at Devils in Detail, we believe there is no better time to do that then right after the previous season has come to a close. Here is part three of our 2017 season outlook.

Head coach Todd Graham has a lot of changes to make between now and the beginning of the 2017 season. There will be a new quarterback competition, a defense that needs improving, and a whole new slew of recruits that need to step-up and find their niche within the team.

All of these changes seem like a lot to do for a head coach, and they are, but there is time. Spending time recruiting on the defensive side of the ball from now until signing day could be the difference between a successful 2017 campaign and an unsuccessful one.

Another change is the possibility of a new starting quarterback. With a quarterback competition looming, the position you want to be the most stable could be the most unstable prior to the first game of the 2017 season. If the starting quarterback is not named Manny Wilkins then it will be important that it is decided sooner than a few days prior to the first game of the season. Making sure the starting quarterback has time to form relationships with his receivers and o-line should be a huge priority for coach Graham.
