The Pro Football Hall of Fame released its list of 15 modern-era players selected as finalists for the 2025 enshrinement class and among those players are three former ASU football standouts.
Cornerback Eric Allen, linebacker Terrell Suggs and safety Darren Woodson will all be considered by the selection committee and could be among the five players chosen to be enshrined in Canton, Ohio next August.
The three Tempe alums combined for a grand total of 18 Pro Bowl selections, eight All-Pro honors and five Super Bowl championships in their esteemed careers.
ASU could have three former players enshrined in 2025 Hall of Fame class
Suggs is a first time finalist as this was his first year of eligibility but both Allen and Woodson have made it to this stage prior. 2025 is Allen's second consecutive year as a finalist while Woodson has been honored as such for three straight.
There's a significant chance all three could be included in the list of five maximum the selection committee can choose to be enshrined alongside three at most from the Senior, Coach and Contributor categories.
Suggs (2000-02) still owns the career and single-season school records for most tackles-for-a-loss, and set the NCAA record for most sacks in a season with 24 in 2002. He went on to be selected 10th overall by the Baltimore Ravens in 2003 where he earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2011 and then won Super Bowl XLVII the following season.
Allen (1984-87) set the school record for both interception return yards in a game (129) and in a season (185) as well as tying the record for pick-sixes in a single year (2) during the 1987 season. He was later passed by Nathan LaDuke in 1990.
Selected in the second round of the 1988 NFL Draft, Allen became a six-time Pro Bowler and is the only player in league history to run back three or more picks for a touchdown in two separate seasons.
Woodson (1988-91) was a walk-on in Tempe his freshman year but he quickly impressed, becoming a team captain in his senior year. After being selected in the second round of the 1992 draft by the Dallas Cowboys, Woodson won three Super Bowl titles with "America's Team." He was a five-time Pro Bowler and earned first-team All-Pro honors on three separate occasions.
The 2025 class will be announced during the week of Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans with the honorees being inducted in Canton, Ohio next August.
