Arizona State football fans appear to have seen the last of wide receiver Jordyn Tyson in the Maroon and Gold. To no one's surprise, the 21-year-old pass catcher is reportedly declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz on Wednesday.
Tyson is not expected to play in the Sun Devils' upcoming appearance in the Sun Bowl against ACC champion Duke. Again, unsurprising given it would just be another opportunity for the junior wideout to get injured. He was held out from the second half of ASU's 23-7 loss to Arizona because he reaggravated his hamstring.
In nine games this season, Tyson accrued just 711 yards and eight touchdowns - well below his career-high 1,101 yards and 10 scores last year. Missing three games due to injury significantly impacted that total but he also was without starting quarterback Sam Leavitt (also out for injury) for most of the games he did play in.
Jordyn Tyson expected to be Top 10 NFL Draft pick
Tyson's abilities, regardless of his limited availability this year, is well on the radar of every NFL Draft scout and pundit. According to ESPN's "best available" board, he sits at No. 13 overall and No. 1 among wide receivers.

"Tyson is a Colorado transfer coming off a breakout second season at Arizona State," ESPN's Steve Muench wrote of the six-foot-two pass catcher ahead of the 2025 campaign. "He gets off the line well, stems defenders and flattens out when getting out of his breaks. His ability to separate leads to plenty of pass interference and holding calls. After the catch, he's a threat who can make defenders miss. Tyson can get off press coverage and gain leverage as a vertical route runner. He's not an overpowering blocker, but he gets into position and moves his feet once locked on."
Pro Football Focus mocked Tyson No. 4 overall to the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday. He would likely be immediately inserted into a lineup that features just Jerry Jeudy as a real receiving threat and former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders under center (if veteran DeShaun Watson does not return).

Former RB/WR Charley Taylor is the highest-selected Sun Devil in program history, going No. 3 overall in 1964 to the Washington Redskins. If PFF's projection is correct, Tyson would come in just behind him and also be the first ASU player since WR Brandon Aiyuk in 2020 (No. 25 overall to the San Francisco 49ers) to be picked in the first round.
