As the saying goes, that's all she wrote. And in this case, it takes on a literal sense.
It is with much sadness that we announce today is the final day - and this the final article - for Devils in Detail. Going forward, there will be no dedicated site for Arizona State athletics coverage here at FanSided.
For nearly two years, I had the pleasure of operating as the site expert for Devils in Detail. I'm extremely proud of what we built here, too. It was pure luck that this all coincided with the Sun Devil football program rising from the ashes and becoming Big 12 champions, and it now concludes with Arizona State seeing two players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft for the first time since 2001.
There are plenty of other things to be proud of from these past two years. Devils in Detail quickly grew from just one individual - yours truly - to a team of seven people whose passion for sports and Sparky knew no bounds.
As Molly Miller took over the reigns of a once-proud women's basketball program, Devils in Detail was right there to cover every single game of the 2025-2026 season. We had boots on the ground for every home game, providing a level of coverage for the program that no other outlet did this year.
The same goes for Sun Devil hockey, covering every single game of what ultimately turned out to be a disappointing, yet still thrilling, season. The hockey program, like our site, has grown very quickly. So quick, in fact, that many other outlets have been slow to cover its rapid ascension. Yet, Devils in Detail was right there.
We were also there, of course, to cover the meat and potatoes: football, men's basketball, and baseball. We provided in-depth analysis of games, recruiting moves, upcoming matches, and postseason implications. We did it for the love of the game, and we all had a blast doing it.
It's hard to say goodbye, but all good things come to an end. Thankfully, though, high-quality coverage of all things Arizona State athletics does not come to an end. A majority of our team is transitioning our work over to a new platform, Echo From the Buttes, and you can find all your regularly scheduled Sun Devil content over there.
Even with a new venture on the horizon, it's hard to let go of what was built here. The Sun Devils are the best fan base in all of college athletics, and they made it truly great to cover the team. I know they'll continue to be that same passionate bunch well after Devils in Detail, and we won't quit loving this university and their incredible student-athletes.
