Add this to the list of things we love to see. On Friday, former Arizona State linebacker Travion Brown was sworn in as one of the newest officers for the Tempe Police Department.
Current linebackers coach and run game coordinator for the Sun Devils, AJ Cooper, and some of Brown's friends and former teammates - including former ASU running back D.J. Foster - attended the swearing in ceremony, posting pictures and videos from the event.

"TB you did it!!!! Proud of you big fella!!! One of the BEST men I’ve gotten the privilege to coach," Cooper wrote on X. "You’re gonna be a positive impact on the community!!! Love you big dog!!!"
"Incredible moment watching a Sun Devil step gracefully into their next chapter of life," Foster said in support of Brown.
Former Sun Devil LB achieves dream of working in law enforcement
Brown, who also went by Tre, spent just one season in Tempe with the program. He transferred as a graduate student after four years at Washington State.
While not exactly a star at ASU, Brown still had arguably his best season while a Sun Devil. He recorded 53 total tackles (29 solo) and a half sack for a 32-yard loss against Oklahoma State in 2023.
During that season, Brown spoke with The Arizona Republic about his interest in law enforcement. He revealed his intentions to join the department's volunteer training-educational program, which seems to have paid dividends for his dream career now.
"I have always been interested in that," Brown said in 2023. "At first I was interested in being a lawyer but then I saw how much paperwork was going to be involved and I knew that wasn't for me. This was the next thing I thought of."
By that point Brown already had a history with Tempe PD having been a part of multiple "ride alongs" and reaching out to network with local officers. He already earned his degree in criminal justice and was pursuing his masters in communications. Brown said he was hoping to become a K-9 officer one day.
"It's two things I love so that would be just perfect," he said then.
Whether that manifestation comes to fruition for him is yet to be seen but one thing is for sure, we all salute Officer Brown with a great big forks up and thank him for his service.
