The Associated Press put out their Top 25 on Sunday, but the real Top 25 - the one crafted by our panel here at Devils in Detail - is out now.
1. Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State had a bye this week, but they've been our unanimous top team for a while now and see no change after a week of rest.
2. Penn State Nittany Lions
Ditto for Penn State, who's been nearly unanimous as the second-best team for several weeks now.
3. LSU Tigers
The only team to get a second place vote ahead of Penn State, LSU crushed FCS Southeastern Louisiana, making their case as the best team in the SEC.
4. Miami Hurricanes
Besting the Gators isn't quite the accomplishment it used to be, but the Hurricanes continued to play strong football and handily beat Florida.
5. Georgia Bulldogs
A bye week for Georgia means little to no movement, though the Bulldogs still have questions to answer as they prepare to start SEC play.
6. Oregon Ducks
Oregon was locked in a battle with lowly Oregon State for much of the first half before pulling away and blowing them out.
7. Florida State Seminoles
Florida State continues their ascent, blowing out a middling Kent State squad by 50+ points.
8. Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma drew their first real test of the year, facing a ranked Auburn squad. It wasn't pretty, but the Sooners came out on top in a knock-down, drag-out fight. That's what you have to do to win in the SEC.
9. Texas Longhorns
Texas fans won't love this. After shutting out Sam Houston State 55-0, the Longhorns fall behind rival Oklahoma, but the Sooners had the tougher opponent.
10. Indiana Hoosiers
This is a pretty big jump, but when you beat a ranked opponent 63-10, this is what happens. The Hoosiers look to be firing on all cylinders.
11. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Another big jump, as our panel put aside their previous skepticism of the Red Raiders after their dominant win over Utah. Texas Tech is the early frontrunner in the Big 12.
12. Texas A&M Aggies
Just narrowly dropping below the Red Raiders, Texas A&M drops ever so slightly after their bye.
13. Iowa State Cyclones
The next best team in the Big 12, Iowa State has our panel more split. The Cyclones didn't play this week, but they've looked just as good as last year, which marked the program's first ever double digit win season.
14. Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss ran up against one of the top Group of 5 programs in Tulane and absolutely dog-walked them. That will always lead to a boost in the rankings.
15. Alabama Crimson Tide
Some movement for Alabama despite not playing, as several teams ahead of them drop down following disappointing performances.
16. Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee did what we all expected them to do: blow out UAB. It's still tough to know what these Volunteers really are, but they've looked good as of late.
17. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
There was no letdown for the Yellow Jackets after their upset of Clemson, as they crushed Temple this weekend.
18. TCU Horned Frogs
After several weeks of being in the "Receiving Votes" category, TCU finally makes the jump and debuts in our poll. The Horned Frogs look to be legit after beating SMU by multiple scores. Their upcoming Friday matchup with Arizona State offers a golden opportunity for both sides.
19. Michigan Wolverines
Michigan was a popular pick to be upset by Nebraska this week, but they prevailed in a close one. That keeps the Wolverines in a solid spot for now.
20. Missouri Tigers
Getting a win over South Carolina, who saw LaNorris Sellers return, is a big one for Missouri.
21. USC Trojans
This is a pretty high debut for USC, but their strong win over previously-undefeated Michigan State seems to have endeared the Trojans to our panel.
22. Illinois Fighting Illini
A huge drop for Illinois, but after getting blown out by Indiana, that's expected.
23. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame finally got on the board, winning their first game of the year over Purdue.
24. Vanderbilt Commodores
Anchors down! Vanderbilt is 4-0 and coming off a huge 70-21 victory over Georgia State. How far can they go when SEC play picks up? That remains to be seen, but Vanderbilt looks good right now.
25. South Florida Bulls
The AP may have quickly moved on from South Florida after failing to upset Miami, but our panel still believes in the Bulls.
