Arizona State's impressive 4-0 start to the 2025 NCAA baseball season could be the cornerstone to a greater run to Omaha, Nebraska. Of course, it's way to early to determine who's going to be playing for a national championship but the Sun Devils look to be built like contenders.
ASU is already off to a better start than last year's campaign (3-1 through four games) and will be looking to match and better its 5-0 start from 2023 as it faces Oral Roberts (3-0) in a three game series at Phoenix Municipal Stadium Friday through Sunday.
After the first week of play, the Top 25 rankings (h/t D1 Baseball) omit the Sun Devils but that was kind of expected considering how early it is in the season. The team received votes on some other polls but when compared to some of those top squads, ASU shapes up well.

ASU looking to end 44 year College World Series title drought
Arizona State hasn't won a national championship in baseball since 1981. While it's unlikely the team will end that drought this season, it's still very possible the Devils could still see Omaha.
ASU has two players with multiple home runs this season, compared to 2024 national champion Tennessee (currently the No. 3 team in the country) who has none so far. While home runs aren't everything in baseball, it's good to know the program has some potentially clutch hitters.
Junior right fielder Kien Vu has stolen four bases to date, that's good enough for an eight-way tie for fourth in the entire sport. If the team wants to compete against the best, it'll need all the extra bases it can get.
It's tough to really see where ASU sits amongst the top teams this season so far but not incurring a loss will go a long way down the stretch when there are bound to be some lurking in Big 12 play. The Devils will need to rack up as many Ws against non-conference foes as they can before the rubber really hits the road in one of the toughest baseball conferences in the country.
