On Saturday night, the Colorado Buffaloes defended their home court by winning 78-70 over the Arizona State Sun Devils. This match was hosted in the CU Events Center in Boulder to sweep the series of games in the regular season.

Strong First Half Sets the Foundation

Colorado made an initial dominance and headed to the halftime leading 39-31. Although Arizona State momentarily took the lead at the start of the second half, the edge did not last long. Seven consecutive points by the Buffaloes soon brought them back on their feet and proved the turning point of the game.

Barrington Hargress led Colorado with 23 points, shooting 10-15 from the field. Sebastian Rancik delivered a milestone performance, recording his first career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, showcasing his presence in the paint.

The balanced offense and proper timing enabled Colorado to control the end of the stretch even though Arizona State had tried to close the gap.

Sun Devils Unable to Sustain Rally

Since the second- half lead did not last long, Arizona State found it difficult to establish consistency. The Sun Devils could not match the Colorado scoring spurts and interior game, though they were not beaten easily. The defeat lowered the Arizona State to a 1211 record after the loss on the road.

Saturday was the first in a series of wins that gave Colorado a season series sweep over Arizona State. The Buffaloes had already defeated the Sun Devils 9589 in Tempe on January 3, and the 78 70 win in Boulder.

The win improved Colorado’s record to 13–10 overall, helping the Buffaloes continue their push in Big 12 play.
