After last week's exposure to Jeff Lebby's "Veer and Shoot" offense, the Sun Devils will be facing a very similar style of offense against the Texas State Bobcats.

A product of the Gus Malzahn coaching tree, G.J. Kinne's offense makes heavy use of the hurry up offense that Malzahn became known for. Pre-snap motion and RPOs are hallmarks of the Bobcats offense. The offensive playbook is pass heavy, but is creative enough to allow for a balanced attack by working in play action passing as well as inside zone and counter runs.

Much like Mississippi State's offense, Texas State runs a quarterback centric offense with Brad Jackson playing the role of a point guard to direct motion based on what he sees in the defense. The Bobcats needed to replace leading receiver Jaden Williams, and junior Beau Sparks has stepped into that leading role to open the season, leading the Bobcats with 237 receiving yards and 5 TDs on 12 total receptions. Chris Dawn Jr. has played well in a secondary role, recording 7 receptions for 159 yards through two games.

At the running back spot, Lincoln Pare has been the recipient of most of the ground work, carrying the ball 33 times for 238 yards and 2 TDs. He's also seen limited usage as a pass catching back, hauling in 4 passes for 33 receiving yards. But the running attack doesn't stop with him. Jaylen Jenkins has put up an impressive 10.5 yards per carry on his way to 126 yards and 2 TDs, and Jackson himself is capable of pulling the ball down with 82 yards and 2 TDs to his credit.

The Bobcats' offensive line is anchored by team captain Dorion Strawn and redshirt freshman Brock Riker. The offensive line averages 6'5" and 322 lbs, presenting a tough front for the Sun Devils defense to break through. If not enough pressure can get to Jackson, he will air it out deep, as seen on this connection to Sparks against UTSA.

With another team that likes to exploit the secondary, the Sun Devils will have their work cut out for them against the high tempo of Texas State. Don't miss any of the rest of our coverage leading up to Saturday's 7:30pm kickoff from Mountain America Stadium.
