We're nearly into the home stretch folks. Arizona State football returns in just under two weeks with kickoff against Northern Arizona inching ever closer.

Kenny Dillingham wants to rewrite ASU football history after successful 2024 season

ASU is engaging in its final couple of weeks of practices at Mountain America Stadium before things get real in just 12 days. Head coach Kenny Dillingham, however, isn't satisfied with where the group is as Week 1 against NAU quickly approaches. The offensive group had a "self-destruct" moment, in his words, during practice on Saturday that he took accountability for.

“That starts with me. When I think of mistakes like that, I look at myself," Dillingham told reporters after the scrimmage. "At the end of the day, it’s our job to get 11 people to do the right thing.”

The Sun Devil defense, however, was making big plays and Dillingham hopes that's an indication of future play and not on account of the offense's mistakes.

“Hopefully our defense is a good defense, and that’s why it’s hard to go versus them. It’s always more worrisome if your offense is scoring tons of points in camp," he continued.

The Sun Devils prowess after their historic run to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals last year is being nationally recognized after almost a decade in the shadows. They enter the season ranked No. 11 by the coaches and AP polls. Dillingham, though, wants the group to know that ASU has not fared well when thought highly of.

"I've showed them the stats on Arizona State when they're ranked top 15 in the last 50 years, what happened? And it's never good. We're facing 50 years of history," he explained to reporters.

ASU fans know all too well the kind of collapse the program has had when things just start getting good. Dillingham's focused on returning the team to a successful consistency not seen in over half a century. Now, the only thing fans can do is sit back and trust he can keep his word.

Football countdown continues with a look at Darryl Harris' career

Yesterday we brought you the story of wide receiver Chris McGaha and his four-year journey to becoming a fan favorite in Tempe. He's still remembered fondly by hard core fans but he's been overlooked for far too long by those less engaged with the program's history.

Today, you can read all about running back Darryl Harris. He was a member of the 1987 Rose Bowl-winning team and earned All-Pac 10 first team honors the very next year.

Keep things locked on here as we begin to wrap up our countdown to kickoff.
