It’s been an exciting week for Sun Devil athletics.
The weather in Tempe sure is getting hotter as the off-season continues and so are the ASU sports headlines. From football news to baseball recruiting, we have you covered as you try to stay cool in this heat.
1975 Sun Devil Football Team, Jeff Ayres Headline 2025 ASU Hall of Fame Class
Sun Devil history has just become even more golden. The undefeated 1975 football team will be inducted into the 2025 ASU Hall of Fame Class. Eleven members of that team—three coaches and eight players—are already in the Hall, but now the entire team is given credit.
They’re joined by men’s basketball standout Jeff Ayres (formerly Pendergraph), who received the news about himself earlier this month from ASU Athletic Director Graham Rossini.
More honorees will be announced during ASU’s football game against Texas Tech on October 18.
Rossini Unpacks Revenue-Sharing Plans
Speaking of the athletic director, he discussed the next steps following the House v. NCAA settlement, outlining revenue-sharing plans that will include more than 200 new scholarships for the 2025–2026 school year. Rossini provided an exciting update, stating that ASU intends to renovate the Desert Financial Arena over a number of years beginning in the early summer of next year. It will be exciting to see what else is in store.
New Faces Join ASU Baseball
The bullpen just got deeper, and the infield is getting hotter. This week, ASU Baseball secured three significant transfer commitments:
PJ Moutzouridis (INF, Cal)
Dominic Smaldino (INF, Cal)
Alex Overbay (RHP, UNLV)
The weather isn’t the only thing heating up this offseason.
64 Days Until Sun Devil Football
Yesterday, we highlighted Todd Kalis as part of our countdown to kickoff. The offensive lineman was recognized for his contributions on and off the field.
Today, keep an eye out for our piece highlighting Jim Kane, an offensive lineman who was a powerhouse for ASU in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
