We're in the dry season for college sports news but Arizona State athletics are still brimming with updates. From football recruiting to the baseball transfer portal, ASU is keeping busy this offseason. We here at Devils in Detail will get you all caught up on the weekend's action.

Sun Devil football hands out golden tickets for coveted in-state recruits

Head coach Kenny Dillingham and his staff handed out six "golden tickets" to highly sought-after class of 2027 football recruits in the state of Arizona over the weekend. The gesture is meant to signal how badly ASU wants these guys to stay in the valley.

All six already have multiple offers from half a dozen or more Power Five conference schools, so Dillingham is up against some serious competition. The golden ticket tactic is a unique one that signals he's serious about locking down a prime recruiting space that was once thought to be, ironically, out of ASU's league.

Dozens of high-caliber recruits have left the state of Arizona for other opportunities across the country, notably those like quarterback Brock Purdy (Perry High School in Gilbert) who thrived at Iowa State after being practically ignored by ASU during the Herm Edwards era.

Dillingham recognizes ASU sits smack dab in the middle of one the most coveted recruiting farms in the nation, sandwiched between the California and Texas markets. If he can take advantage, he'll have ASU set up for years to come.

Baseball lands three strong transfers in the portal

Head coach Willie Bloomquist cooked up a three-course meal on Friday, getting three great players in the NCAA transfer portal that look poised to slide right into the Sun Devil starting lineup come springtime. The Sun Devils needed to bring in some serious offensive production as ten of their top eleven batters appear to be departing.

Dean Toigo (Utility - UNLV), Matthew Polk (Outfielder - Vanderbilt) and Dominic Longo (Infielder - Utah Valley) boast resumes that could provide a much-needed boost to ASU's inconsistent offense in 2026.

The Sun Devils have two transfers who have yet to officially sign. They are rising senior outfielder George Bilecki from Lewis University and redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Colby Guy from UNC Asheville. It's unclear when they will put pen to paper.
