Although there are no sports on the calendar until August, there is still some interesting news happening for Sun Devil Athletics. Every day we inch closer to the 2025-26 athletic year, and we are now exactly 50 days until the first non-exhibition game currently scheduled on the Sun Devil Athletics calendar, a soccer match against the Nevada Wolf Pack.
We here at Devils in Detail continue to give news roundups as Football season is almost here, and spring sports continue to navigate the transfer portal to find their identities for the next season.
Sun Devil Football continues to be disrespected, this time by EA
EA Sports College Football 26 recently released their top 25 toughest places to play, and surprisingly, ASU’s Mountain America Stadium was left off the list. The Sun Devils went undefeated at home in 2024.
The Sun Devils were underdogs in five of their six home games in 2024 and scored at least 27 points in every home game. The grass surface, named Frank Kush Field, hosted many memorable moments, with the most recent being the double field storming against BYU.
Former Sun Devil Luguentz Dort wins NBA championship with Oklahoma City
Luguentz Dort won his first ring by helping lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first championship since they moved to the “Sooner State”. The Canadian was a defensive presence for the Thunder all year as he was named to the NBA’s All-Defensive first team.
Dort’s Thunder beat an Indiana Pacers team that had two former Arizona Wildcats on the roster, TJ McConnell and Benedict Mathurin.
Softball builds its roster as it retains key pieces
Head coach Megan Bartlett has been shaping her team's roster after her first season coaching a Sun Devil team that made the NCAA tournament. Bartlett kept All-American pitcher Kenzie Brown, who will likely continue to dominate opposing offenses.
Barlett got three pieces that could play crucial roles for Arizona State next season. None of Arizona State’s biggest contributors left in the portal, which signals room for growth in 2026.
66 Days until Sun Devil Football retakes the field
Yesterday, we highlighted Shawn Lauvao as a part of our countdown to opening kickoff for the reigning Big 12 Champions. The offensive lineman was a cornerstone on early Dennis Erickson-led teams and eventually was drafted by the Cleveland Browns.
Today, we highlight offensive lineman George Fadok, who played on some of Frank Kush’s best teams. Make sure to keep up with our series throughout the summer.
