As we all await the return of fall athletics, Sun Devils continue making waves this summer. From nine baseball players drafted, to Big 12 nominations, ASU stays in the spotlight. Here's everything you need to know.

Sun Devils Make Draft History

ASU is one of only two schools in the nation to have a player selected in every MLB draft since the league's founding in 1965. This draft marks 61 consecutive drafts where a Sun Devil was taken. Additionally, the program set a modern-day draft record when all nine selections were made in the first 10 rounds of the draft.

  • Brandon Compton (2nd Round, 46th overall – Marlins)
  • Ben Jacobs (3rd Round, 98th – Tigers)
  • Lucas Kelly (6th Round – Mariners)
  • Isaiah Jackson (8th Round – Angels)
  • Jack Martinez (8th Round – Diamondbacks)
  • Kyle Walker (8th Round – Astros)
  • Kien Vu (9th Round – Reds)
  • Will Koger (9th Round – Padres)
  • Matt King (10th Round – Pirates)

This class brings ASU's overall number of MLB Draft selections to 486–leading all collegiate programs, with no other program surpassing 400.

ASU’s draft legacy continues. Way to go Sun Devils!

2 Sun Devils Nominated for Big 12 Athlete of the Year

ASU announced Cam Skattebo and Kenzie Brown as its two Big 12 Athlete of the Year nominees.

Former ASU running back Cam Skattebo turned heads in 2024 with outstanding numbers on the season, and even finishing fifth in Heisman voting. Not to mention being named the MVP of the Big 12 Championship game. This nomination comes as no surprise, and extremely well-deserved.

Senior ASU softball pitcher Kenzie Brown was lights-out all season long, dominating the circle. Her standout performance rightfully earned her All-American honors, and now this fitting nomination.

43 Days Until Sun Devil Football

Football season is quickly approaching, with just 43 days to go until the Sun Devils take the field. Yesterday, we honored former ASU fullback Mike Karney. Today, we spotlight former defensive tackle Davon Coleman, and his impact in maroon and gold.

With fall just around the corner, Sun Devil momentum is only picking up.
