The Arizona State University women's basketball team beat the USC Trojans 78-76 in a secret scrimmage, according to On3Sports.

Sophomore forward Heloisa Carrera and fifth-year guard Gabby Elliott each had standout performances for the Sun Devils.

During the 2025 Big 12 Women's Basketball media day on Oct. 21, Elliott, fifth-year guard Last-Tear Poa, and junior forward McKinna Brackens praised Molly Miller's leadership.

"What I've seen from Coach Molly [Miller] is her intensity," Poa said. "We're very intentional with the stuff that we're doing right now, and she's trying to make sure that we're executing things that if it's a game. So, when it comes game-time, when we're ready, and it's something that I truly appreciate, so something that we don't have to necessarily get used to."

Last season, the Sun Devils finished with a 10-22 (3-15 Big 12) record and underwent significant changes, including player transfers and coaching staff shifts.

When Miller was introduced at the press conference as Arizona State women's basketball head coach for the first time back in March, she said, "Is it season yet?" She also led the Grand Canyon University Lopes to their first appearance in the NCAA Women's Division I Tournament this past season.

As the Sun Devils pursued players in the transfer portal during the offseason, they will have four seniors and two fifth-year players to depend on for leadership and experience.

"They've been great in terms of leadership," Miller said Oct. 21. "Mikayla [Moore] is one that I can say, Where's this, or that, or she can point me in the right direction, since she's a vet, but our whole senior class has been really experienced in the locker room. They're coachable. They're all bought in. So for me as a coach, that's really refreshing to come to practice every day. I know that you got a senior leadership group ready to go."

The Arizona State Sun Devils will begin the Molly Miller era in Tempe on Monday, November 3, as they host the Coppin State Eagles at home.
