The Sun Devils have another chance to show what they're made of.
After their first loss of the season, in the series opener against Oral Roberts, Arizona State bounced back with consecutive wins to steal the series victory. Both wins were decided by more than seven runs, as the Sun Devils showed great resilience and resolve in beating a team that's coming off three straight regionals appearances.
Can they do it again? Arizona State kicked off their two-game stretch against former Pac 12 rival UCLA on Tuesday night, but it didn't go well. The Bruins took a commanding lead with a grand slam in the fourth inning, and things were pretty much over from there.
Pitching was once again an issue in Tuesday's game, though some of that has to do with Easton Barrett making his first career start on the mound. The Sun Devils have shown an ability to get quality arms out there this year, but head coach Willie Bloomquist just didn't find the right order until too late on Tuesday.
Can the Sun Devils bounce back and finish with a split series? They have yet to lose consecutive games this year, so a win would be huge even though it won't yield a series victory. The hope is that this afternoon's game is more interesting to watch.
