For the first time in the 2025 season, the Sun Devils are venturing away from the welcoming confines of Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
Arizona State is now in the City of Angels to rekindle a rivalry with a former Pac 12 foe now that both teams are in new conferences. They'll face the UCLA Bruins tonight in the first of a two-game stretch against their former conference mate.
UCLA comes into this brief series at 6-1, riding a hot start to the season. They swept Cal Poly to start the year, putting up 16+ runs in the final two games of that series, and dominated both BYU and Michigan State in solo contests with 15 runs in each game. Their one loss came last Friday to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Bruins have thus far been a strong mix of explosive hitting and shutdown pitching. Their OPS of .926 ranks 52nd in the country, just three spots behind Arizona State, while the team ERA of 2.61 sits tied for 27th in the nation.
Arizona State also comes into this series with a 6-1 record, though they've faced a tougher schedule to this point. They swept Ohio State, though not without a noble challenge from the Buckeyes, before taking on a really strong Oral Roberts squad that delivered the Sun Devils their first loss of the year. However, Arizona State rebounded from that series-opening loss to win the series with two dominant victories in a row.
The Bruins offer another tough matchup, as their all-around talent will be tough to match, but Arizona State feels confident that they can go toe-to-toe here; after all, Willie Bloomquist's team swept UCLA last year. Don't miss out on tonight's action.
