Arizona State vs. Southern Utah: How to watch the season opener

Arizona State is coming to the new season with a 13-20 record last year. The last campaign ended at 1219 in Southern Utah. The two programs are supposed to reset and set a better momentum at the beginning of the season.

In the previous season, Arizona State was averaging 74.1 points per game and 76.8 points in defense. The crime was middle of the national ranking, and the defense was weak at some moments.

The 3-point shooting was also considered a strength of the Sun Devils, with an average of 8.7 makes per game at a mark of 35.6. This ranked them in the top 100 teams in the country in both areas. The same situation with Arizona State, as they would perform a bit better at home than on the road.

The average of Southern Utah last season was 69.8 points per game, the target of 73.7. Long range was a problem for Thunderbirds as the team made only 5.9 three-pointers per game at 31.3 percent shooting. But they demonstrated higher scoring stability at home, averaging 74.1 points a game, than at home with an average of 64.6.

Arizona State will tip off against Southern Utah at 7pm MST in Desert Financial Arena.

The game will air on ESPN+ (subscription required). Braiden Bell with be the play-by-play announcer, and former Sun Devil basketball star Jeff Ayers will provide color commentary.
