The college baseball season is finally here, and Arizona State is ready to get their 2025 season started. Entering his fourth season, head coach Willie Bloomquist will lead the Sun Devils in a season opening three game series against Ohio State.
Bloomquist's team finished 32-26 (17-13) last year, the best record yet under the former player turned coach. Still, though, the Sun Devils have yet to make the NCAA Tournament under Bloomquist and this season, their first in the wide open Big 12, will be a pivotal one for the coach. You can read more about it in our season preview here.
Meanwhile, Ohio State will kick off their first game under new coach Justin Haire. The Buckeyes have not reached the tournament since 2019, and they fired coach Bill Mosiello after just two seasons that saw him finish with a 60-51 (21-27) record. Haire previously led Campbell to five conference titles and five tournament appearances in 10 seasons as their head coach. Ohio State was picked to finish 11th in the Big Ten this year.
Arizona State has high expectations for 2025, returning a lot of heavy hitters and hopeful for improved pitching. They were picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 and have three preseason All-Big 12 players. They also saw three players named to the Golden Spikes watchlist.
It all starts tonight against Ohio State, so make sure you don't miss out on the action.
