It's the last day of March, and just as we all expected, the only program in the state of Arizona still playing postseason basketball is the Sun Devils.

Arizona State has ventured to Las Vegas to play in the first round of the first ever College Basketball Crown tournament, an alternative postseason tournament sponsored by Fox Sports that seeks to rival the NIT.

This tournament offers an NIL component for certain players on selected teams, which some believe will help set it apart in future years and make it a more desirable invite than the NIT. For now, though, the CBC is limited to inviting a bunch of teams whose fan bases were relieved the season was over.

That's true for the Sun Devils, who have been battling a rise in fan apathy since the decision to bring back Bobby Hurley following his fourth losing season in five years. Arizona State has already lost three players to the transfer portal, including high-profile guard Joson Sanon.

Meanwhile, freshman big Jayden Quaintance is expected to miss tonight's game - and likely the entire tournament, should Arizona State advance at all - with an undisclosed injury that's kept him sidelined for the better part of the past month.

The Sun Devils draw Nebraska, who finished the year 17-14 with a 7-13 Big Ten record, good for third from the bottom in the heavyweight conference. Like Arizona State, the Cornhuskers squandered a strong start to the year and faded down the stretch, failing to even qualify for their conference tournament in the end.

Tonight's game doesn't promise to be appointment television, but it does offer these players one last chance to show what they can do on the basketball court. And for that reason, it's worth checking out.
