Arizona State baseball has been without one of its star outfielders for an extended stretch but on Sunday it looks like that time missed is going to get a lot longer.

Junior outfielder Kien Vu was reportedly spotted in a walking boot in the dugout during the Sun Devils' matinee contest against the Kansas Jayhawks (h/t Sun Devil Source's Luke Lendler). Vu has missed the last six games for the team.

Among qualified players, Vu has led the team in OPS (1.135) and is considered one of the stars of this 2025 roster, announcing himself with a two-home run game against UNLV on March 4.

What Kien Vu's injury means for Arizona State baseball

ASU's outfield still features some pretty impressive bats like sophomore Brandon Compton (.302/.996/.570) and junior Isaiah Jackson (.292/.903/.539). But Vu offered a deadly combination of clutch hitting and solid defense.

No details on his injury have been released by the team but the extended absence and silence didn't bode well. Now, seeing him in a walking boot just confirms the worst from a recovery perspective.

ASU still has the bulk of its Big 12 schedule approaching and could really use Vu's talents to make a run at the national postseason. At 15-8, the Sun Devils will be entering a critical stretch against conference foes to try and establish themselves as College World Series contenders. Fans will be hoping whatever injury Vu has will heal quickly.
