Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham and his coaching staff aren't wasting any time in keeping the roster stacked with talent. On Tuesday, they landed a commitment from 4-star tight end Israel Briggs.

Briggs marks the second 4-star prospect of the Sun Devils' 2026 recruiting class, joining El Paso quartrerback Jake Fette. Briggs is from Visalia, California and is currently rated by 247 Sports as the 11th best prospect in the state.
Beyond that, though, Briggs is listed as the sixth best tight end prospect in the country and is ranked 67th in the nation among all prospects. He is the highest rated tight end commit Arizona State has landed since Zach Miller, the Tempe native who was drafted in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft and enjoyed an eight year career.
Listed at 6'5" and 200 pounds, Briggs is very much an athlete first and foremost. He's alternated between receiver, tight end, safety, and cornerback in high school and has also worked as a return specialist. On top of all of that, Briggs was a decorated athlete in both basketball and track.
Briggs picked the Sun Devils over offers from other powerhouse programs like Oregon, Alabama, Texas A&M, Miami, and Florida State. It's a huge win for tight ends coach Jason Mohns, who has built a strong reputation as a recruiter in his short time at Arizona State.
Briggs joins a program that saw Chamon Metayer emerge as a top receiving threat over the last half of the 2024 season, and the expectation is he'll get even more work heading into the new year. Metayer's usage was surely a point of intrigue as Briggs made his decision.
