After a two week absence that felt like an eternity, Arizona State football has returned to the AP Top 25 rankings. The Sun Devils come in at No. 25 after completing an epic 17-point comeback to upset then-No. 24 TCU on Friday night.

The new rankings feature a slew of big changes as four teams ranked in the Top 8 were defeated on Saturday. Ohio State still remains the top dog but Oregon made a four spot jump from No. 6 to No. 2 after taking down then No. 3 Penn State (now No. 7) on the road.
Miami slides one spot to No. 3 and Mississippi leaps from No. 13 to No. 4 after upsetting LSU at home. Oklahoma rounds out the Top 5 while the Sun Devils are joined by Virginia (No. 24), BYU (No. 23), Illinois (No. 22) and Notre Dame (No. 21) at the bottom of the list.
Arizona State's stay in the Top 25 could be short lived in Week 6
The Sun Devils got a critical win over the Horned Frogs to stay undefeated in Big 12 play. That earned them some much-deserved respect from the AP voters this week but unfortunately, that could easily be revoked in seven days time even without the team playing at all.
ASU has an open date in Week 6 with the team traveling to Salt Lake City to take on Utah the following week. With the Devils sitting just at the edge of the rankings, it's entirely possible they get punished for not having a game to follow up their victory.
It's going to be entirely dependent on whether any of the teams just ahead of ASU lose next week or if at least one of the teams receiving votes this week, just outside the rankings, picks up a win over a ranked foe. That could easily prompt the AP voters to reward a team performing well lately than carrying over ASU to Week 7.
