Arizona State didn't play a game this week, trying to rest up over their bye week, but plenty of significant developments occurred this weekend. That's now reflected in the latest edition of the AP's Top 25 poll.

Texas Tech moved up one spot with their win over BYU, who dropped down to No. 12 following their first loss of the season. Fellow Big 12 teams saw movement, too, with Utah climbing to 15 and Cincinnati going to 22.
The Sun Devils were one of two other Big 12 programs to receive votes but miss the Top 25. Houston received more votes, but Arizona State saw seven votes sent their way, which effectively places them 32nd in the nation.
Of course, with this being the second week of the College Football Playoff committee releasing their poll - that drops Tuesday night - the AP doesn't carry as much weight anymore. Still, there's usually a pretty strong correlation between the two.
More than anything, this poll indicates just how good of a spot the Sun Devils are still in.
The stage is being set for multiple Big 12 programs to have a shot at making the playoff, whereas last season saw just the conference champion go dancing. But the BYU loss also helps Arizona State's odds of at least getting back to the Big 12 title game, especially considering the Cougars still have to play both TCU and Cincinnati.
We'll explore rooting scenarios later in the week, as the Sun Devils still don't control their own destiny, but things are shaping up nicely for them. A strong finish to the season may still result in going back to Dallas.
