After falling into a deep hole early last night, Arizona State clawed back and played to a 3-3 tie against the Colorado College Tigers, claiming the extra point in the conference standings thanks to shootout goals by Jack Beck and Cruz Lucius and a Herculean effort from freshman goaltender Samuel Urban.

The grind continues tonight as the Sun Devils will be back in action looking for a big 3 points tonight to stay in the top half of the standings in the NCHC in the early going. Last night’s slow start threatened to back Arizona State into a corner, but winning the second period and playing a mostly even third period gave the Sun Devils the chances to get back in the game and they converted when it mattered.

Coach Powers was noncommittal in his postgame comments last night, but look for Urban to get the start again in net. After giving up 3 goals on the first 10 shots faced last night, he stopped the last 27 shots from the Tigers plus both attempts in the shootout, making him the decided unsung hero of the game.

Tonight’s early action will get underway from Mullett Arena at 5pm with tickets still available to catch the action in person. If you can’t make it to Mullett tonight, the game will be streaming nationally on NCHC.tv (subscription required). Tyler Paley and Alex Coil will bring the call over the radio waves on Fox Sports 910 Phoenix.
