Wednesday afternoon, the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced the 29 goaltenders across NCAA hockey that have been named to the 2026 Mike Richter Award watchlist, and two fami

Senior Connor Hasley and freshman Samuel Urban were both named to the watchlist, marking the first time in program history that two players have appeared on the first list. Both newcomers to Tempe, they have overcome some early season hiccups to earn their place in the conversation for the nation's best goaltender.

After transferring in from Bentley over the summer, Hasley has been a strong leader in the crease, playing to an 8-7-0 record in his 17 games. Averaging 27.82 saves per game (4th in the NCHC), his .920 save percentage ranks 2nd in the conference, while his 2.59 goals against average puts him 7th in the conference. While he has yet to record a shutout to follow up his NCAA-leading 11 shutouts last season, his last 8 games have produced an impressive 2.08 GAA, going 5-3-0 in that span with wins over Top-10 teams in Denver and Dartmouth.

Urban meanwhile is positioning himself to be the goaltender of the future for the Sun Devils. His overall statistics are not quite as flashy as Hasley's (4-4-1, 3.02 GAA, .917 SV%), he recorded the first shutout of his career this past Saturday at home against Miami, while also notching a key win against another Top-10 team in Minnesota-Duluth. Urban leads the NCHC with 30.89 saves per game, ranking 4th in the conference in save percentage.

Hasley and Urban join Gibson Homer (2024-25), TJ Semptimphelter (2023-24), and Joey Daccord (2018-19) in earning Richter watchlist recognition, with Daccord being recognized as a finalist.

The Mike Richter Award winner will be announced on April 10th during the Frozen Four in Las Vegas, NV.
