Just one day after a stinging loss once again prompted the question of how long Bobby Hurley can remain in Tempe, Arizona State landed yet another high profile recruit in Kash Polk.
Polk, who had offers from Georgia Tech and Oklahoma, was once rated as a 4-star prospect, but an injury slowed his progress and saw his rating drop down to a 3-star grade. Still, Polk was ranked as the 49th best power forward in the nation, the 22nd best prospect in the state of Texas, and a Top 250 player in the nation.
Standing at 6'8" and 195 pounds, Polk is a floor spacing stretch four with plus shooting ability. He'll need to fill out his frame somewhat, but Polk projects nicely into Hurley's offense, especially after last week's addition of a similar type of player in Icelander Fridrik Leo Curtis.
Polk was excited to commit to Arizona State, sharing with the announcement that "I told my parents at 8 I was going to play at ASU."
Polk joins Curtis and guard Trevor Best in the 2025 recruiting class, one that sees Arizona State still very much in the mix for Top 10 prospect Koa Peat, an Arizona native and brother of Sun Devil offensive lineman Keona Peat.
Most recently, Peat whittled his list down to five teams, and Arizona State was among them. Curtis has made comments in the past about wanting to team up with Peat in college, and there have been similar whispers around Polk being in contact with the 5-star guard.
As Hurley's team continues to struggle on the court, he's still finding success where he always has as a coach: the recruiting trail. Curtis and Polk are both strong additions, and landing Peat alongside them would be a huge - and much-needed - win for the Sun Devils.
