It's been a rough stretch for Arizona State men's basketball. After a 13 point loss to their rivals at home on Saturday, the Sun Devils have just one win in their last six contests. Embattled head coach Bobby Hurley has been grim in his post-game press conferences, too, seemingly coming to terms with his own future as his contract expires at season's end.
But there are still games to be played, and next on the docket is a winnable one. The Sun Devils travel to Salt Lake City, the first of a two-game road trip, to take on the Utes. Utah is having just as rough of a time: they're 9-12 on the year and 1-7 in the conference, one spot behind Arizona State in the Big 12 standings.
However, Utah is in a very different spot than Arizona State. Hurley is wrapping up his 11th year on the job, while Utes head coach Alex Jensen is in the midst of his first season as head coach, doing so for his alma mater. Neither program is having a good year, but they're heading in very different directions. That should make for a close game, at the very least.
