Continuing our countdown series until August 30th's opening game against Northern Arizona University, we take a look at the career of offensive lineman Emmit Bohle.

Football was in Emmit's blood from birth. Named for Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith (and with a nod to his dad's favorite team with the middle name of Steel), Emmit's collegiate career started at the Division II level with Northern State University in South Dakota. A tight end in his high school days, Bohle converted to left tackle and started every game in his two year career at Northern State in 2019 and 2021 before entering the transfer portal.

The 6'6", 290 pound lineman soon found his home in Tempe, playing in 12 games as a redshirt junior in 2022 with seven starts. After a rough adjustment in the first half of the season (let's be honest, 2022 was rough all around for Sun Devil football), he locked in to his craft and allowed just seven QB pressures over the final seven games of the season, third-fewest in the Pac-12 in that span.

After graduating in the Spring of 2023, Bohle was poised to continue his stellar play until sustaining a broken leg in the second game of the season against Oklahoma State and missing the rest of the year. He was granted a seventh year of eligibility and would return for the 2024 season as a non-degree seeking graduate student, one of 35 players in FBS who would play in a seventh year.

Emmit would go on to appear in all 14 games for the Sun Devils in 2024, starting just one game. While his impact wasn't always readily seen on the field, it was his heart and his leadership that proved vital for the Big 12 champions throughout the season.

Emmit would go undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, but received an invitation to the Chicago Bears rookie minicamp that took place in May. No matter where his future leads, whether on or off the football field, Emmit was the definition of perseverance during his time with the Sun Devils.
