The presumed starting quarterback of the ASU Sun Devils, Emory Jones, has been active on Twitter lately encouraging his teammates.

It’s always a good sign when your quarterback takes a leading role both on the field and off. It seems like recent Florida transfer Emory Jones has those leadership qualities you want from that position.

Sure, quarterbacks need to be supremely self-confident. Sometimes that might lead them to a path of selfishness or entitledness, but that certainly does not seem to be the case with Jones who has used his Twitter account to constantly praise his teammates rather than himself.

Starting with fellow transfer Des Holmes, Jones tweeted out:

A 6-foot-5, 322 offensive lineman from Penn State, Holmes should be on the interior of the offensive line dedicated to keeping Jones off the turf. It’s a time-tested truth that quarterbacks should maintain a strong relationship with their linemen.

Jones has also pumped another transfer in running back Xazavian Valladay

Retweeting a post from the Sidelines – Arizona State account promoting Valladay as the next 1,000 yard rusher from ASU, Emory replied:

Later the same day, Jones retweeted Valladay himself, calling the former Wyoming running back a “Real X FACTOR!”.

Jones announced his transfer to Arizona State on May 5, 2022, a huge get for a program uncertain about its future at the quarterback position.

It only took a week for the new ASU QB to start promoting his new teammates. His first tweet was about yet another transfer, wide receiver Camron Johnson from Vanderbilt.

Now of course none of this is necessarily indicative of success on the field, but it is always a good feeling to see the quarterback of your team be so supportive of his teammates.

Hopefully, it is a sign of a positive culture building inside the locker room that will take some of the sting out of the negative press that the football program has endured over the last several months.
