A new addition to the small 2023 class of recruits committed to Arizona State on Friday.
Chase Davis, a defensive back from Little Elm, Texas, announced on Friday that he would be attending Arizona State to play football in 2023.

A 3-star recruit, Davis is the 53rd-ranked safety in the country as well as the No. 102 player in the great football state of Texas.
His size at the position is incredibly intriguing as he is listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds. Listed as a safety, he has the size and speed (go look at his tape) to play multiple positions throughout the secondary or even inside linebacker.
Writing in April, 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks found Davis to be an exciting prospect.
"Given his frame potential, Davis could fit multiple roles in the defensive back seven, including the concept of growing into a modern off-ball linebacker in the mold of a so-called “spacebacker.” Davis’ size and versatility should expand his offer list in the spring evaluation period."
Watching his junior season highlights the first thing that jumps off the tape is his play recognition ability. He shows good reasoning while guessing plays and he is adept at the angles needed to quickly get to the ball.
Not necessarily a ball hawk, all the big signs of a run-stopping and pass-defending safety or cornerback are there. The intangibles on Davis are great and certainly encouraging for ASU fans. Already a very high 3-star, don’t be surprised if that rating goes up a bit after his senior season at Little Elm HS. How nice would a 4-star recruit in the secondary be for the future of the program!
Davis had a lot of Division 1 interest which included offers from fourteen other schools among which was Pac-12 rival Colorado.
Only the second player of the 2023 class, Davis is a welcome addition to the Arizona State football program. Go Sun Devils!
