Arizona State men’s golf has captured multiple All-American honors for the second year in a row after a magical season that came close to a title.

On Tuesday the Golf Coaches Association of America released their list of student-athletes found deserving of being called All-Americans. Included among them were four students from the Arizona State men’s golf team.

Senior Mason Andersen was named to the Second-Team while Josele Ballester, Cameron Sisk, and David Puig were found on the honorable mention roll.

Andersen had an incredibly impressive senior season with five top-10 finishes in tournaments throughout the season. He also had a great run through the NCAA Championship tournament beating opponents from Oklahoma and Pepperdine before finally besting Cole Hammer of the University of Texas in the title match to give ASU a shot at the trophy.

Ballester played well in the Pac-12 Championships, finishing fourth. Puig had another impressive season and ended with a 11th place finish in the NCAA Championships which included a victory over Longhorn opponent Mason Nome in the title match.

ASU golf also had four honorees in 2021 which also included Puig and Sisk. This will be the second such award for Puig and the third for Sisk who was named to the Third-Team in 2020.

These awards cap off a magical season for Arizona State men’s golf who made a run to the National Title match against Texas and were hoping to add a third national championship to their trophy room.

Unfortunately, Texas bested the Sun Devils in a 3-2 match after James Leow, Preston Summerhays, and Cameron Sisk lost their matches against the Longhorns.

This was the best finish for the program since 1996 and although the loss is disappointing it is still a great time to celebrate the accomplishments of one of the best Arizona State men’s golf teams in recent history.  Go Sun Devils!
