Top 3 Incoming Recruits for Arizona State Football
By Kyler Burd
Joining Dylan Hall on the Arizona State defensive line is Robby Harrison out of Emerald High School in Greenwood, SC.
A 3-star recruit who was ranked 24th in the state of South Carolina, Harrison has a lot of size and the tools needed to be a meaningful addition to the Arizona State defense.
At 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, Harrison is huge. In fact, he is the third heaviest player on the defensive line behind senior Tautala Pesefea Jr and grad transfer Nesta Jade Silvera at 305 pounds and 306 pounds respectively.
Harrison will take up a lot of space on the line and in high school he used that to his advantage against the run. Working with that size it seems likely that the freshman will take snaps at nose tackle and do his best to occupy the center while the defenders on either side try to take advantage of opposing guards.
ASU defensive line coach Robert Rodriguez had a lot to say about Harrison:
"Long arms. Good feet. If you see him in person, he’s got wide shoulders. He’s a great wrestler. The kid is a really good athlete. He’s going to carry a lot more weight and he’s going to be a really good interior player for us. But he doesn’t have a lot of technique, and that’s our job. That’s my job. I trust in my ability to do that. Robert Rodriguez – 24/7 Sports"
A staunch front seven can certainly help out a Sun Devil secondary that might struggle in the upcoming season. Thankfully, both the defensive line and linebacker group look to be in pretty good shape. The addition of Harrison can only improve the team.
