3. Utah Utes (17-13, 11-7 Pac-12) LW: 6

After not getting much preseason love, the Utah Utes have proved to be the surprise team in the Pac-12 following another strong weekend against the LA schools. The Utes finished the season 17-13 (11-7 Pac-12), which was good enough for third place in the conference.

A big reason for the success the Utes have been seeing all season is the outstanding play of Sedrick Barefield.

The senior guard finished his final campaign averaging 17.2 points on 41.6 percent shooting as well as nearly four assists and two rebounds.

In the Utes’ Senior Day win against UCLA on Saturday, Barefield showed out in front of the Salt Lake City faithful one last time.

He finished the night with a team-high 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting, including five 3-pointers. His scoring efforts were complemented with two rebounds and one steal in the 92-81 win.

Another Ute who had a good showing was freshman forward Timmy Allen. He was a big reason why Utah took down the USC Trojans, 83-74. Allen finished the night with 19 points, but he was able to do a little bit of everything, adding five rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals.

The Utes have a first round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament this week, where they will await the winner of No. 6 Oregon and No. 11 Washington State.
