7. Washington State Cougars (11-16, 4-10 Pac-12) LW: 9

After senior forward Robert Franks returned from injury and the Washington State Cougars came away with a convincing road sweep of Arizona and Arizona State, it looked like they could cause some trouble to finish out the season.

Since that sweep, the Cougars have now lost two of their last three with all three games being played in Pullman.

However, one of those losses came at the hands of conference-leading Washington, 72-70. The other was a 13-point loss to Utah.

This just continues to prove why Washington State is one of the biggest mysteries heading into March for the Pac-12.

One thing that isn’t a mystery is that Franks is one of, if not the best player, in the conference. This past week, he was able to lead the team in scoring by a large margin once again.

Against Colorado, Franks was able to help the Cougars edge out a 76-74 win thanks to his 19 points, six rebounds, and one assist.

Then in the 92-79 loss to the Utes, Franks was an absolute menace, putting up 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting and going 4-of-8 from deep. Despite his scoring abilities, he was also able to pull down seven rebounds and nab three steals.

The Cougars will have a chance to prove if they are here to stay or if they were just a flash in the pan this upcoming week when they hit the road to take on Stanford and California.
