9. Washington State Cougars (10-14, 3-8 Pac-12) LW: 11

Of every team in the Pac-12, none had a better week than Washington State.

The Cougars were able to do something that hadn’t been done since 1998, as they won at Arizona and Arizona State by double digits.

A big driving force behind the two upsets was the unstoppable play of senior forward Robert Franks. Against the Sun Devils, he led all scorers with 34 points on 11-for-17 shooting and 5-for-9 from downtown as well as 13 rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and four steals.

Then against the Wildcats, he had an extremely similar night as he went for 31 points, again shooting 11-for-17, but this time nailing seven out of his nine shots from deep. In Tucson, Franks also pulled in a team-high eight rebounds with two assists and one block.

Another player who had a strong weekend for the Cougars was freshman forward CJ Elleby. He was able to put together a double-double off the bench against the Sun Devils and finished the night with 10 points and 10 boards. A few days later, he was inserted back into the starting lineup and finished second on the team in points behind Franks with 18 to go along with his eight rebounds and four assists.

The Cougars will be back in action this week as they prepare for the first game of a three-game homestand. Saturday night, they will get a shot at 19-5 and cross-state rival Washington on ESPNU with tipoff slated for 5:00 p.m. PT.
