After a 5-0 start to non-conference play, ASU basketball has begun to form their team identity through mixed personalities, styles of play, and talent of the roster.

Head coach Bobby Hurley has been tasked with taking this talent, secured through recruiting and a couple of key transfers, and turning in into something more.

What is the result of this identity?

A largely successful start to the season in form of a 5-0 record.

While the record sits unblemished, there are two sides of the equation that makes up the team’s identity, one side pointing toward greatness, the other side pointing to mediocrity.

One side of the equation we have seen so far points towards being an elite rebounding team that leads the nation.

On the flip side, low assist numbers point toward an isolation focused team that struggles to share the ball.

To determine which side of the spectrum the Sun Devils are closer to, we break down the team’s 5-0 start into three categories: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
