ASU volleyball fell to the Washington Huskies, one set to three, despite a great showing from senior outside hitter Alyse Ford.

The Arizona State Sun Devils traveled up to Washington to take on the Huskies in hopes of defeating them for the second time this season. After dropping the first set the Sun Devils were able to win the second and tie the match 1-1 before losing the next two to lose the match 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 27-29, 4-25).

Alyse Ford showed up to play tonight as she finished the day with a match high 24 kills. She was getting kills in every way possible. She was attacking from the outside, opposite, back row, and was using tips, tools, and straight up smashing the ball.

It was an impressive effort all around for Ford. While serving, she was able to get three aces as well to add to her offensive outburst. She was also a big factor on the defensive end as she tallied nine total blocks.

Other than Ford the Sun Devil’s offense struggled immensely. No other teammate got into double-digit kills and only five other players were able to earn a kill.

More from Devils in Detail

Courtney Leffel was another Sun Devil that shined during this match. Her contributions came on the defensive end. The junior libero had a match-leading 27 digs. This is her second match in a row with more than 20 digs.

For Washington they were led by Kara Bajema and Samantha Drechsel. They had 17 and 13 kills respectively. The dual-threat of the outside hitters were too much for the Sun Devils as the dominated the court and got nearly anything they wanted.

In the third set the Huskies were just able to out-last the Sun Devils in a tremendous set that was back and forth the whole time. The Huskies took an important 2-1 lead heading into the fourth set. During the fourth set the Sun Devils looked as if they would rather be at home then on the court as they were only able to score four points the whole set.

With this loss the Sun Devils drop to a 13-12 record with a 4-9 Pac-12 record. The Huskies improve their record to 14-9 with a 6-7 conference record.
