ASU volleyball looks like another dangerous Pac-12 team as they start 3-1 in conference play. The Sun Devils stun Oregon in Eugene as they swept the Ducks in three sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-22).

ASU was up in Eugene, Oregon and fought their toughest match of the year against the No. 12 Oregon Ducks and swept them in three sets.

ASU was led by Ivana Jeremic, Alyse Ford, and Nicole Peterson. Jeremic finished with her eighth double-double as she finished with 16 kills and 12 digs as well as a hitting percentage of .273. Ford had the second most kills as she finished with nine and had the highest hit percentage at .286. Although Peterson is an outside hitter once again, she helped the offense flow smoothly with 18 assists, 7 digs, and 6 kills.

The Sun Devils have recently been playing their tempo and controlled the momentum, which was a struggle last year and the beginning of this year as well. Five Sun Devils finished the match with at least five kills which helped cause confusion and allowed the offense to pickpocket the defense’s weaknesses.

However, the Ducks’ height advantage came into play and helped keep the Ducks close in all three sets. The Ducks finished with nine blocks compared to the Sun Devils three blocks. Three Ducks players finished the match with four blocks of their own. Ronika Stone finished the match with a team high 13 kills, four blocks, three digs, and a .300 hitting percentage which was the highest between both reams.

The Ducks and Sun Devils were fairly even in every other aspect though which led to this match to be very close. The Sun Devils had 44 kills compared to the Ducks who had 43 kills. ASU was slightly better with their specialty of digs as they had 11 more digs than the Ducks and had a higher hitting percentage. The Sun Devils finished with a .224 hitting percentage compared to the Ducks .189 hitting percentage.

The Sun Devils have improved with their errors as they only had only 16 attack errors compared to when they played California and had 38 attack errors.

Callie Jones shined again against the Ducks as she led the team with 22 assists and tied for the most digs for the team with 12 digs too. Although she did not get a kill in this match, she helped the offense flow with Peterson.
