ASU volleyball swept Oregon State in straight sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-19) to win their second straight conference game for the first time since 2016.
The Arizona State Sun Devils traveled up north to take on the Oregon State Beavers this Friday, defeating them easily in three straight sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-19).
ASU was led by their two outside hitters Ivana Jeremic and Claire Kovensky. Jeremic finished with her seventh double-double of the year with 11 kills and 14 digs while Kovensky had 10 kills and seven digs.
The Sun Devils had a balanced offensive attack throughout the match as six different players had at least five kills. Megan Beedie was also a big factor. The sophomore middle blocker contributed five kills while leading the team in service aces with four. The Sun Devils finished with six total aces.
The Beavers on the other hand had a tough time on offense. As a team, they hit at a .149 percentage on 134 attack attempts. Their star and offensive weapon, Maddie Goings, finished with nine kills on 39 attempts and had four errors. She had a .128 hitting percentage for the game.

One area where the Beavers did manage to outplay the Sun Devils was in the block category. The Beavers had nine blocks compared to the Sun Devils’ eight.
The Sun Devils continued to struggle at the net, but a bright spot was Carmen Unzue. Unzue, a senior, had four blocks in the second set alone.
Sun Devil coach Sanja Tomasevic changed up the starting lineup despite winning their last game and the team actually benefited from it.
Callie Jones got the start over Shelbie Dobmeier as the second setter today. It was the first start of the season for the junior from Xavier College Prep in Phoenix, Arizona.
Jones stepped up to the challenge as she got 13 assists, 14 digs and an ace. She was not rattled by the moment either as she committed no errors the entire game.
Tomasevic showed a lot of trust in her players by changing up the rotation even after winning their first conference game since 2016. The choice payed off by defeating the Beavers and improving their record to 11-4 and conference record to 2-1.
The Sun Devils will get one day to rest before taking on the Oregon Ducks on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Ducks are currently ranked No. 12 in the nation and have a 9-4 record following a five-set loss to Arizona.
