ASU Football: Washington’s mystery at quarterback
Senior- How good is he?
The Huskies were pegged as the Pac-12 favorites heading into the 2018 campaign due to their returning running game in senior Myles Gaskin who enters having ran for over 1,300 yards in his first three seasons and behind senior quarterback Browning.
The pair has been vital to the Huskies success during their time at UW and will determine how far this team can truly go.
Browning has yet to show which quarterback he will be, the breakout superstar we saw as a sophomore or the do too much junior, as he has led the Huskies to a 2-1 start.
Against Auburn, Browning went 18-for-32 with 296 yards and both a touchdown and interception in the loss. Browning followed that performance going 23-for-37 with two interceptions and two touchdowns in a victory over North Dakota.
Last week, Browning went 14-for-24 with a touchdown pass and run in a victory over Utah in their conference opener.
Heading into a matchup against Arizona State, what quarterback is going to show up for UW is largely an unknown. The Sun Devils defense stifled the Huskies a season ago, holding them to seven points in an upset that took place when Washington was ranked No. 5 in the nation.
While the Huskies will look to lean on Gaskin and the run game to run over a defense that gave up over 300 yards on the ground a week ago against San Diego State, Browning will need to open up the running game through the air.
His success against the Arizona State secondary in Chase Lucas and Kobe Williams will be much like Browning’s career: a mystery.
